Sorry there aren't current pictures. Much has happened. Mid June we got to a point where we could move into the house and empty the mobile home so it could be relocated to the young couple's property that bought it from us. From then until just a few days ago my desktop computer wasn't connected to the Internet due to the way our wireless network was set up and working between the shop and the house. I finally figured out how to get enough signal strength and am back online.

The list of accomplishments is long, however we still have more to do:

+ Furniture moved from the storage unit to the house
+ Furniture & stacks of boxes moved from the trailer into the house & my studio
+ Double-wide mobile home removed
+ New/additional fencing installed
+ 'Old' septic tanks emptied and destroyed
+ Dining Room was 'put together'
+ Kitchen almost finished (cabinet hardware to be ordered, back splash to be installed)
+ The Bird Porch re-constructed after the trailer was removed
+ Guest bedrooms setup
+ Office organized
+ Mini blinds ordered, received Friday and installed Saturday (yesterday)
+ Mirrors for the bathrooms ordered (due in this week)
+ Updated the 'to do' lists for each of the rooms
+ Started working on the landscaping
+ Started unpacking my Studio

*** Most importantly we have the FINAL Certificate of Occupancy!!!

I promise to post some pictures soon.

We have been so busy with the house & I've been having connectivity issues since Steve moved his system (and the cable modem & router) into his office space in the shop, that updates to the blog have suffered along with keeping in touch with family & friends.

We received a 'temporary' certificate of occupancy effective May 9th. The final c/o will be issued when we have the mobile home removed from the property.

Here's a list of the major accomplishments that I can think of right now....
  • Almost all the tile work is done. We were waiting for some bullnose for the master bathroom & it finally arrived.

  • The painting is almost finished. The master bath and garage each need a final coat of wall paint.

  • We are working on the shoe moulding to finish the baseboards.

  • The kitchen appliances were delivered.

  • The kitchen counters installed.

  • The bathroom counter tops installed.

  • The lights and fans installed -- electric finished and so the A/C is on.

  • The plumbers finished today -- so there's water and the septic is connected!

  • Wednesday we hired 'Two Men & a Truck' to clear out the storage unit and put the furniture in the house. While they were here we also had them move most of the boxes from the two 'spare bedrooms' in the mobile home to the house and shop.

  • The gas folks will finish connecting the water heater, stove and clothes dryer tomorrow.

The great push to get the rest of the stuff from the mobile home into the house is on. I'm not sure how long it will take, but the young couple that are buying the mobile home are counting the days (hours?) until they can have this place moved onto their property!

I'll try to get some pictures added that show the progress. Until then here is one of the kitchen and another from the mountains of cardboard we've been dealing with. The recycle guys have been great, taking everything Steve cuts down & stacks out front each week.

This seems to be a 'never ending' project. I do know there is light at the end of the tunnel... but getting there is taking much longer than I thought!

With the house:
  • drywall is finished, smooth finish on the ceilings
  • ceilings painted, walls primed

  • garage door installed
  • 2 of the 3 bathrooms tiled (where's the Hall bathroom)

  • floor tile 2/3 completed

  • gas tank buried, gas water heater installed
  • 'early release' so we have power to the house & then through to the Shop

  • Steve's moving the dirt around for the new drive and the landscaping around the house

  • purchasing & installing light fixtures & ceiling fans
  • finish carpenter installing exterior door hardware

The Shop:

  • All painting completed
  • caulked around the baseboards
  • installed fans/lights
  • electric finalized
  • FINAL INSPECTION -- we have the "Certificate of Occupancy" (THE C/O!!!!)
  • cable and phone connected
  • This weekend we should be able to start the great transition into the shop office and studio.

At Last -- the final color coat stucco has been applied. From the outside it really does look like we're getting closer.
The electricians were here, but it started to rain Friday and they were not able to complete their work. Guess we'll see them this week. The drywall sanding is almost done. We decided to have a slick finish on the ceiling, in addition to the walls, so it's taking a bit longer. When he is finished, the painters can spray the ceilings and then we'll be able to work on the walls. We found a place to get some dirt for the landscaping and slowly they have been delivering the over 50 loads we think we'll need. That will help smooth out the bumps in the back 2.5 acres, with landscaping around the house and create a base for the driveway.

The painters completed the ceilings, walls and woodwork in the shop offices. It looks beautiful. One of our neighbors is a painter by trade and made us an offer we couldn't refuse for the offices. With the higher walls in there it would have been very time consuming for us. Also the a/c unit has been installed, so we're only waiting for the electric to get hooked up. As soon as we install the fan/lights and outlets we should be able to begin moving some of my equipment & supplies into 'my studio' and Steve's office into his room.

The shop is getting so close to being finished. The bathroom tile has been set & the sink and toilet installed. We got the electrical fixtures (fan, light, exterior flood lights) and they should be going up this week. Steve needed to dig a trench for the electric service from the house to the shop to be buried. The dogs watched and were very jealous he was able to move more dirt mechanically than they could when they dig. That is Kajin closely watching the process.

On the house the soffit & fascia was installed last week end. The color coat stucco had been scheduled for Friday, but it started raining Thursday and didn't stop until yesterday, so maybe we can get it done this week. The drywall taping & mudding is well underway and the rooms look like they have the measles! We have been looking at floor tile & I think we picked a pattern.

Progress!
With the house:
+ the drywall/sheet rock has been hung and the taping, etc. will start Saturday
+ the materials are ready for the fascia & soffit to be installed Saturday
+ the septic tank guys replaced the standard tank lids for the 'drive lids'. So now if we happen to drive over the area where the tanks are buried with the tractor, we won't worry about cracking the lids.
+ the plumbers connected the water supply into the shop/garage
+ FPL (the power company) buried the new line down the side of the property in preparation for service to the house.
With the Shop:
+ the cabinet maker installed the vanity in the bathroom
+ Steve trimmed the rug in the loft room, installed the light fixture and added a shelving unit we bought for the space.
+ I relocated 6 large plastic containers & several boxes of Christmas decorations from the trailer into the storage room!
+ the tile guy is scheduled for Monday to hang the durarock board in the house bathrooms and lay the tile in the shop bathroom.
It sounds like a bunch & it was!!
Here's Steve in the family room after the drywall was finished....
this is looking into the kitchen....

Here are the septic tanks and water supply lines between the shop and house. Steve just parked the tractor back in the shed that will eventually be removed.
